Top 10 hairstyle for women in 2020.

The list was announced by the New York magazine's new female editor, Laura Mulvey - who was born in South Africa and lived in the US during her early career. She wrote: 'These are the women who we can count on to bring you the hair of tomorrow.

Top 10: The list is divided into the following categories:

1.   Wavy

 2. Curly
3. braided hairstyles
4. Natural
5. Straight (without curl)
6. Blowouts
7. High and Tight (wet-cut)
8. Tight-cut (with curl)
9. Curly-cut (without curl)
10. Cowlick (wet-cut)

The first women to be inducted into the 'Top 10' category will appear on the October issue of New York magazine, which hits newsstands on October 10.

The magazine's list does not include celebrities because the editors believe the media's fascination with Hollywood glamour is not enough for women's hair to be covered.

The magazine's editor explained that the women's hairdressing profession does not have the same profile in the media as it does in the general population.

"It's not a big industry," said Laura Mulvey, who grew up in South Africa. "The beauty industry in the US is more about makeup and skin care than hair care."

However, she added: "This is an acknowledgement that what women do in their personal lives has a lot to do with what they wear."

She said the magazine's list is meant to be a 'starting point for conversation'.

'Curlers'

The magazine's list was divided into four categories:

1. Wavelines

2. Curlies

3. Blowouts

4. High and Tight

Laura Mulvey explained that the idea behind the ' Wavelines ' category was to show that women will go 'beach-ish' when they want to.

"It's a way to show that you will be doing something to make your hair look like waves or waves. There's a lot of beach-esque hair at the moment," she said.

The curlies category was created to show how women are 'not that far apart' between their style choices.

"They can have waves or curls or they can have straight, curlies or blowouts," she said.

The 'Curly' category was created with the aim of "making a statement about hair, and the importance of keeping your hair curly or straight."

The ' Straight ' category was created to show how women do not have the same choice when it comes to their hair as men do.

"In men's lives, there's an expectation. Men have curls," Laura Mulvey said.

"Men are supposed to have curlies. So if they can grow up curly, that's not that important to them. The importance of it is how their hair is on their face.

"It's not necessarily straight or curly. It's where it's on their face."

A lot of women, however, do have straight hair that is curly on the top and straight on the back or in the middle.

"They have straight hair that has curl in the middle, and curls on the sides."

'Dapper'

In the 'Dapper' category, women who have straight hair that looks 'dapper' are shown, with some of the best examples being actor Tom Hulce and fashion designer Donna Karan

Laura Mulvey said the choice of hair for dapper women was a bit more than just having it curly on top.

"Dapper women have the same hair on their face - it looks like a dapper. It looks like a very specific type of hair," she said.

"They can have curls at the top, straight hair in the back, and then they can be very loose with the sides."

'Bun'

The ' Bun ' category shows how some women choose hair for their bun.

"It's a bun where you can have a bunch of different colors going over the hair, or it's a bun where there's a lot of different textures going around."

"In the bun category, a lot of women want their hair more in the bun. It's not so much about the hair on the top - it's about what's going with the bun," Laura Mulvey said.

The 'Blowout' category is made up of all styles of blowouts.

'Curly'

The 'Curly' category is made up of both curly and straight styles of hair. This category, for example, shows that a woman with straight, curly hair is not 'curly'. "Straight curly hair in the bun is not curly.

Straight curly hair with curl is curly. A man's hair is curly, and it's different," Laura Mulvey said.

"The 'Curly' category is for curly and straight, and this is what we've chosen to create."

The 'Blowout' category is made up of all styles of hair blowouts.

Laura Mulvey said the choice of hair was not just a hair style or style combination, like how to wear a bun or a blowout. She said it was about what's going with the blowout, as well.

"The category we've created is to show what's going with all these choices."
